Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), presently recognized as the Africa Union (AU). In 1991, the OAU established the African Economic Community, and in 2002 the Union established its own successor, the African Union. Africa Day is a celebration of this Journey of Africa countries, as well as Africans in the diasporas.
Hosted by The Queensland African Communities come see why this has became one of Queensland’s iconic events, this celebration is held on the lawns of Africa House annually. Come experience authentic, rich, colorful, diverse and vibrant Africa culture all showcase in one place. The festival brings together 8,000+ Africa and friends of the Africa community from across Queensland in a spectacular showcase of the diverse African culture and tradition through a blend of both traditional and contemporary African music performances, art & crafts display, fashion, food and stories-with a range of activities for kids.
